Mapping the Transformers Series – Map-It

TL;DR – We map the many locations featured in Transformers, including that one time that all the Transformers went on holiday to Havana for some reason.

Mapping Transformers

With the release of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, I decided it was a good time to go back and look at the Transformers Series as a whole. There are some areas where it is still the trailblazer it was and others that have aged, as well as blue cheese, left out in the summer sun. You can read it all HERE.

However, as I started this process, I wondered how global the series got, given its first very American focus and then that odd moment when China was bribing good coverage in Hollywood. Before I knew it, a map was being made, and it might have been the best part of looking back.

North America Map

It should come as no surprise that the vast majority of locations in the Transformers series appear on the North American continent. Over the many films, we actually get good coverage of the USA, with clear concentrations in Washington DC, New York, and San Francisco. However, this is a good time to mention that the Laurentian Abyss, while deep, is not even close to being the deepest location in the ocean.

World Map

When we look at the whole map, everything is mostly straightforward, though it is clear that someone in the production did not like Chicago or Hong Kong. There were some locations that you had to make your best guess about. For example, it is implied that the Cybertronian Vessel is in the English Channel, which, let’s be honest, is not that deep.

One immense frustration came from the final film before they did a soft, then hard reboot, Transformers: The Last Knight is the location of the pillars. We see three on-screen prompts regarding their site, while other maps show vastly different places, and John Turturro’s does not even have the three on-screen locations as part of his map. I just went with the on-screen prompts. Look, it is not as bad as the ‘where is that dead body after Eternals’ issue I had to deal with in the last MCU map, but it was close to being as frustrating.

Well, there we have it, the whole Transformers series mapped out. As always, if you have any suggestions for other maps you would like to see, please let me know in the comments below.
