TL;DR – While the season might have had some pacing issues, the final episode sticks the landing.

Reacher Review –
Well, all things must come to an end, and for Reacher, that means the end of their second season, a season full of reuniting with their old team, fighting bad guys, and stopping terrorism. That is, if they can survive this final test where the bad guys hold all the cards. In today’s review, we will first look at how the final episode landed before exploring the season as a whole.
So to set the scene, things are looking bad for Reacher (Alan Ritchson). He has turned himself in because Dixon (Serinda Swan) and O’Donnell (Shaun Sipos) have been captured by Langston (Robert Patrick). They are being tortured, and Neagley (Maria Sten) is dead. Langston holds all the cards. Or he would if Neagley was actually dead. For you see, the bad guys have not captured Reacher. They are trapped in this building with him. Now from here, we will be looking at the episode and season as a whole, so there will be [SPOILERS] ahead.

Well, we come crunching into this final episode with all systems running. If you were thinking otherwise, a quick punch up and a bullet to the leg says otherwise. After spending all season at arm’s length, having Reacher and Langston in the same room was an absolute delight. Alan Ritchson and Robert Patrick have fantastic chemistry together, and I wish that we had gotten to see more of that throughout the season. There is only so much you can do on a phone. I do like that Reacher is someone who actually gets hits and bleeds. It gives the action more impact than many action shows and movies at the moment. Also, everyone just turning an eye to all the wanton murders is interesting but also sadly believable.
Look, even if I didn’t know they were already filming Season Three, I don’t think I would have had any real fear that Reacher was not going to make his way out of this mess. But I am glad that the episode did keep me wondering if all his old team would make it. I think Reacher is the only person who could believably hold on to a full gurney hanging off the back of a helicopter. There were some aspects of the ending that you had to see coming a mile away, namely, who ends up out the back of a helicopter. However, it was almost comical how quickly AM (Ferdinand Kingsley) was dispatched after being this looming presence all season.

While the finale ended on a good note with a final reunion, the appropriate going goodbye sections, and some good needle drops. The question then becomes, how well does the season work now that we can see it as a whole? Well, there were a couple of points during the season where even Reacher’s strength and prowess couldn’t project a shield that could protect you from the fact that he would probably be dead standing out in the open like that. Also, personal security is not as good as it used to be.
While I did enjoy myself here, there was also a feeling that the season struggled when it came to pacing. There were moments where things did start to drag out, and then moments when we raced through the plot. All the set piece moments worked; it’s just that how we got to them didn’t always flow like it should. Also, while it was nice to flashback to the past, given we now know that it had only a thematic and world-building-like nature to the present rather than a narrative one, it felt a bit overused.

In the end, do we recommend Reacher: Fly Boy? Yes, we do. The season finale nailed the landing in nearly every way. I hope we get to see some of these characters again in the future. But whatever the case, I think a good idea would be to follow the recommendation of the show and raise a drink for absent friends.
