TL;DR – A lot happened in this episode, but only one thing landed its mark

Scrubs Review Introduction
Today we are looking at an episode that is a bit of a mixed bag, because at least one of its major points landed. However, the rest of the episode was kind of fine. Nothing remarkable, but just fine.
So, to set the scene, JD (Zach Braff) is having a problem. Someone in the hospital just made a huge mistake, and a patient had to be readmitted. This is a huge financial loss for the hospital, and JD, as chief, is looking to find which idiot doctor let the person go before they were ready. Unfortunately for JD, the answer is not the one he wanted to find. Now, from here, we will be looking at the episode as a whole, so there will be [SPOILERS] ahead.

What Worked
One of the main stories this week was JD and Turk (Donald Faison) having to confront uncomfortable developments in their relationship. For Turk, we see that the state he was in at the start of Season One has not gone away, and that is starting to affect his job. While JD must transition from friend to person-in-charge when dealing with him. While of course we do have to find the jokes in the moment with an impact-to-the-trachea mark. However, the core of the discussion, while it did get tied up a touch too neatly by the end, is landing on some real hesitations people have to getting help, and I am glad they explored it.
What Didn’t
Unfortunately, the rest of the episode was impacted by subplots that didn’t quite land as well. Dr Amara Hadi’s (Layla Mohammadi) story about finding her voice was a strong opening; however, it was undercut by the now creepy Grant Summers (John Higgins) addition. Elliot’s (Sarah Chalke) story felt really surface-level, and a missed opportunity to explore a really important issue. Also, I am not sure the Janitor (Neil Flynn) stuff works anymore.

Recommendation
In the end, do we recommend Scrubs? Even though it was a mixed bag this week, it was still all entertaining. The cast makes it work, even if the plotlines don’t quite get there. Have you seen Scrubs yet? Let us know what you thought in the comments below.
