TL;DR – We map the route that Indiana Jones took on his adventures in the first trilogy of films.

Mapping Indy –
Whenever I upload one of my maps, I ask if there is anything else people would like to map? Often I get some excellent suggestions. After I uploaded my Independence Day Map, I probably got the best suggestion [and well timed one] so far because with the new Indiana Jones coming out later this month, it was the perfect time to jump back in and revisit the old films. Also, unlike many films today, the Indiana Jones films know how to use a map.

I made things a little easier to read with this map by colour-coding the three films.
Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark in Black;
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in Red; and
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in Blue

Overall, this was one of the more straightforward films to map because much of the journeys were charted out on screen. You can see the plane as it goes from San Francisco to Honolulu, Wake Island, Manila, and then finally, Kathmandu. But there were still some moments when you had to make your best guess as to their route.
When we look at the three films, Temple of Doom had the shortest route, only going from China to India. The Last Crusade jumped all over the Atlantic before it made its way to the Middle East. Of all of them, Raiders is the closest we get to a complete loop of the Earth. It is so close, but the film ends in Washington DC. Well, it almost ends there [Insert ominous warehouse music here].
This was a fun map because it was the perfect excuse to jump back into some older films and scratch that nostalgia itch. As always, if you have any suggestions for other maps you would like to see, please let me know in the comments below.
