Mapping Mission: Impossible 2023 Update – Map-It

TL;DR – We map all the locations Ethan Hunt and his team have visited.

Mapping the Impossible –

All the way back in the before times of 2018, one of the first maps we constructed for our Map-It series was of the Mission: Impossible franchise. It was an old-style map, and parts of it have not aged all that well. But with Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One jumping back onto our screens galivanting across the planet, now felt like the perfect time for an update.

We chose to map the Mission: Impossible franchise for many reasons. There is the drive to find new places for Tom Cruise to almost die filming stunts on. Establishing a global feel for the moves needed for wide distribution is necessary. It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that unlike James Bond or Jason Bourne, Ethan Hunt has actually visited Australia at least once. Okay, it is a little bit that last point.

Europe has always been the focus of Mission: Impossible films, going all the way back to the start of the series. There are probably good production reasons behind that, but it was emphasised in the latest film as we wandered across the continent, leaving a trail of destruction behind us.

World Map

As we look at the map, it is surprising how little time the series has spent in Asia, as well as its almost complete absence from Latin America. We’ll have to wait for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two to see if they go further afield than we see here.

There we have it, Mission: Impossible mapped out. You can see our other maps HERE, and if you have any other film/TV/video game you would like to see mapped out, let me know in the comments.
