Well, one good night’s sleep later, and it was a slightly more welcoming day that greeted me in the morning as I made my way down the Yarra River to the Convention Centre.

You could feel the energy already brimming around the convention centre as the queue formed and the excited joy permeated through the air via all the cross-conversations happening in unison. However, there is no day-one queue for me today. I did that last year.

No, for me, it was time for a civilized breakfast and chats with friends undercover as a morning rainstorm moved in. Once again, my never being rained on in Melbourne streak continues.

After breakfast, it was time to jump in and see what the 10th anniversary of PAX Australia looked like. And you always forget just how big that Convention Centre is until you have to walk it.

I spent the morning walking around the PAX floor and exploring what was there this year. One new addition was the return of Nintendo in a big way.

It was a day of running around the convention floor and also finding where the nearest IGA was to grab a Panadol for the headache that decided today was the day to rear its ugly head. However, if one thing can make you feel better as an Australian, it is finding an ice cream store that does scoops of Golden Gaytime, and I 100% dived in.

Good Drop Bear advice.

After a day of getting my bearings, I wanted to get some panels in, and while the Drop Bear Theatre was hidden around the corner, it gave some excellent advice if you ever come across one in the bush.

It was getting late, but I knew there was one panel I wanted to catch before ending the day, and it seemed I was not alone in that thought because the Enforcers had to open a surprise backup line to fit all the people wanting to come in. The concert was a joy of nostalgia as we danced our way through some of Nintendo’s finest musical works.

Thus, the day was done, and I made the trip back to my hotel via this not-at-all-ominous stature illuminated in the night sky.  … … … … … … … … … … .. . its still looking at me isn’t it .. .. .. .. . .. . . . . .. . . . . . .. …                 .                    .                                                                 ……………. just keep walking ………………
