The Ottomans Analysis
Well, hold on to your
oversized (but not as oversized as you could have gotten) hats because fan
favourite and Civilization veteran The Ottomans are back with a mostly new set
of bonuses in Gathering Storm.
Where The Ottomans
will shine is in the Domination game with just about all of their bonuses
tending towards the military or at least
military adjacent. You will get powerful siege weapons to tear down those city
walls, which is important because you will want to have captured cities to send
forth your Janissaries from. You get bonuses to capturing and keeping cities,
or if you want, you can just stay along the coast and pillage everything in sight.
The big addition to
The Ottomans is the only unique Governor
in the game (at time of writing). Not only is it unique to The Ottomans, but it is also unique as it is the only
governor that can go into foreign cities. This can really shift up the game,
especially if you make use of some of his offensive perks. Honestly, The
Ottomans just rose very high on my ‘oh no
you’re the first scout I see’ list.
For me I am not a
domination player, I like to build rather than tear down … however, Suileman has piqued
my interest, and maybe I might give it a go. And no this is not just because
his beard game is 100% on point … Okay,
it might be because his beard game is 100% on point.
